Fasa University Incubator Center
Fasa County is located in the eastern part of Fars Province, 145 kilometers east of Shiraz. The presence of industrial and academic centers, suitable agricultural capacities, and the county’s strategic location—situated on the main route from Shiraz to Kerman and Bandar Abbas—are among its major advantages.
Fields of Activity at the Fasa University Technology Incubator Center:
The primary areas of activity for the companies admitted to this center include mechanics, mining and chemistry, agriculture, electrical and electronic engineering, biotechnology, and ICT. Currently, the center hosts 10 companies and 3 startup teams.
Objectives of the Incubator Center:
The strategic mission of the Fasa University Technology Incubator is to foster entrepreneurship and technology development—especially by university graduates—through the creation and support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) until their innovations are commercialized.
The Fasa Technology Incubator aims to provide a suitable environment for the establishment and professional presence of tech companies, SMEs, industrial R&D units, and research institutions.
In line with its mission, the center strives to:
• Create job opportunities for graduates
• Provide consulting opportunities for university faculty members
• Offer access to laboratory facilities, consulting, training, and support for companies based at the center
• Provide internship opportunities for students
Who Can Apply?
• Innovative and tech-oriented teams that have not yet registered a company but intend to launch a business based on a new idea or commercialization of academic research (as a “technology core”).
• Registered startup companies (less than 3 years old) engaged in fields such as technology development and transfer, engineering design, reverse engineering, innovative product development, commercialization of research findings, and provision of specialized technical or business services.
• Established private companies working in the field of emerging technologies, technology development and transfer, or engineering design.
• R&D units of industries and companies.
• Research centers affiliated with universities or government organizations, or specific departments within these centers
Services:
1. Financial Credits and Facilities
Financial facilities and fund allocations for companies based in the incubator center are provided in the following forms:
• Financial assistance for acquiring office supplies and launching the business (Service Loan)
• Financial assistance for executing the approved core idea of the clients (Idea-Centered Loan)
The method of allocating these services in incubator centers is based on the regulations announced by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, the Incubator Center’s internal guidelines, the park’s development programs, management experience, and available resources.
Applicants can be admitted to the incubator center under two categories:
• As Research-Based Teams (Technology Cores)
• As Registered Companies
Applicants accepted as technology cores are typically those who have not yet registered a legal company, or whose working group is incomplete, or whose main idea is not yet fully developed. Once these groups complete their teams and officially register a company, they transition from being a core to a registered company.
Technology cores are provided with a small equipped workspace from the center for a maximum of six months, along with the opportunity to participate in several training programs. It is expected that all teams will aim to enter the growth stage as soon as possible and continue as a legal entity.
The financial support allocated to companies is categorized into two main types:
• Service Credit, used to purchase equipment and essential materials, which is allocated gradually under management supervision.
• Idea-Centered Credit, which is granted once per company for executing their core idea, based on the amount stated in their proposal, also under management oversight.
To enhance synergy among developing companies, the incubator may, under special circumstances, admit engineering service and support companies. These companies can make up to 15% of all admitted units. If such companies enter the growth phase, they will be eligible only for service-related financial facilities.
Repayment terms for these credits are as follows:
• Service Credit is interest-free (Qard al-Hasaneh) and must be repaid in three-year installments, starting one year after the company exits the center.
• Idea-Centered Credit must be repaid within three years as well, starting one year after exiting the center, with repayment terms ranging from a 10% discount to up to 20% interest.
